Currently, Kate wakes up with a smile – and curly bed-head hair. Do you spy those two new teeth up top? They gave us grief for a couple weeks. And now something must be brewing with those bottom teeth because girlfriend has a Jekyll-Hyde personality this week. When in doubt, blame teething.

Currently, it’s frozen waffles for Kate and Fiber One and blueberries for me. Why? Frozen waffles are awesome for teethers (see above), and Fiber One was on sale. It is actually pretty good with blueberries. And it’s high fiber content makes my stomach feel like I ate cement.

Currently, my family room looks like a Toys R Us vomited into a Chuck E. Cheese ball pit. I bought this giant bag of plastic balls at Target for $20 and while they provide hours of entertainment, Dan and I take turns crawling around on the floor and digging yellow balls out from behind the couch each evening. In case you were wondering, it takes three advanced degrees to collect plastic balls – two BAs and a MA.

Currently, I am a real deal spinner. I always wanted a pair of actual cycle shoes. But I wanted to make sure I was a serious spinner before I invested. Seeing as I have been spinning at least three times a week for almost four years, I decided I am probably pretty into spinning. These are my first pair of cycle shoes, and I am forever changed. Real spin shoes make a difference, keeping my feet flat and helping my legs make big circles. I already feel a difference in how my legs and rear end feel after a class. Now that’s a powerful pair of shoes.

Currently, I am herbless. Yep, my herbs died. The unbearable and oppressive heat and humidity that rule Virginia summers murdered my plants. I watered them and tried my best to take care of them, but I was no match against the hot sun. Oh, well, there is always next year.

Currently, I am the owner of a Gadanke journal! A couple of weeks ago, my blogger (and neighbor!) friend, Jane, held a giant give away week on her blog, The Borrowed Abode, in celebration of the opening of her new online store, Janery (Check out Jane’s fabulous shop. She makes beautiful pillows – among other things – that would punch up any room in your home). Anyway, lucky me won a journal from Katie, the girl behind the blog Making This Home. At first I did not want to touch the journal because it is so gosh darn cute. But, I know my girl, Katie, would want me to dive on in and make it my own. So, stay tuned because I am going to show you what I did with this journal in an upcoming blog post.

Currently, life with a toddler is hard work. Good thing she is so stinkin’ cute because otherwise I might run away. Just kidding! Or not. Depends on when you ask me! She is running running running everywhere, getting into everything she shouldn’t and generally causing a ruckus. And she is a little parrot, so now I have to watch what I say. Yesterday I got after Belle for destroying yet another book, and I said “bad dog.” So that evening, Kate started to say what definitely sounded like “bad dog,” complete with finger wagging and a “no, no, no” for good measure. I suppose now is the time to teach her useful things like colors and shapes and all the words to Reba’s Fancy.
