I’ve been reading Kayla Aimee for years. I first discovered her a little over three years ago. I was working in cubicle land, feeling uninspired. I recently started blogging, and I so desperately wanted to connect with other young women my age and going through similar life stages.
So when I found out Kayla was my age, married, admitted to slightly neurotic tendencies, and loved scrapbooking, I knew I hit blog crush jackpot.
Anyway, I’ve been a loyal follower for a good long while. I cheered when she and her husband bought their first house (read about their renovations here) and brought their daughter home from the hospital (read Scarlette’s story here). So when Kayla announced her Blog Book, I couldn’t wait to get a copy.
I am crazy for blogging. Blogging probably takes up 40 hours of my week. But, to me, that’s 40 hours well spent. I can’t get enough. And I am constantly looking for ways to improve and generate new ideas. Since I trust Kayla and love her blog, I decided to buy her e-book and see what new things I could learn.
A good portion of this e-book is dedicated to monetization. All sorts of monetization. A variable plethora of monetization plans. The idea of monetizing my blog sent shivers up my spine. What would that mean? How would that affect my readers? How would it affect me? What sort of monetization would be best for me?
Kayla lays out tons of the options and the pros and cons of each as well as her personal decision making system.
Now, one could research and find some of this information on one’s own. But, it would take hours. Or even more. Probably more. For me, at this point, my time is worth more than ever, so I found the organized, thoughtful, and personal way Kayla provided this information invaluable.
Okay, monetization not for you? Or maybe not for you right now? Personally, I’m still deciding. Well, no worries because there is lots of other stuff in Kayla’s book about blogging in general. If you are new to blogging or want to start a blog, this would be a great introduction/crash course for you. Kayla writes about how to get started, spread the word, and make blogging friends. She also shares her secrets on increasing traffic and how to use Google Analytics. For those of you who’ve been at the blogging rodeo a while, there is still value to be had. Reading and thinking about another blogger’s perspective on blogging always gets my wheels spinning, and after I read this book, I came away with all sorts of new ideas that I did not think of before.
Overall, this is an excellent resource for bloggers. Blogging day after day, week after week, month after month can get tiresome even for blogging enthusiasts like me. So it helps to step back, read another point of view, and get motivated again.
So, in that vein, I am teaming up with Kayla to give away a copy of her book! This is my very first give away, and I am super excited. Here’s the nitty gritty (use Rafflecopter below to enter):
