Week 23 is all about a certain two-year-old’s birthday.
For her birthday, we had a little family party. It’s always a party with The Grandparents.
Kate requested pink cupcakes with pink frosting, just like Pinkalicious (also known as The Book Dan and I Hide Because We’re Tired of Reading It). I used this vanilla cupcake and this swiss meringue buttercream frosting recipe from Martha Stewart. You all must try these cupcakes and frosting. That buttercream is my new go-to buttercream recipe. It’s not the least bit tangy and it doesn’t leave a weird aftertaste. Just smooth and fluffy and totally worth all those sticks of butter.
What? All that butter? Yes. Everyone deserves this buttercream every once in a while.
Don’t you love that butterfly princess outfit? She loves to wear that outfit while playing with her new basketball hoop.
Oh, and my parents? She calls them by their first names: Papa Mike and Susie. It’s a riot. Especially when she says “Suuuuuusieeeeee.”
I also took her for the local pool for the first time. No fear, this child. Right into the water. I was that mom as she kicked and screamed her way out out the door because she wanted to STAY AT POOOOOOOOOL.
So I told her we could call Susie. Tantrum dissolved. Thank you, Suuuusieee.
