I am shocked at how long I’ve stuck with this project.

I start lots of things totally gung-ho.  And then quit because I don’t like the way they turn out.

And I’m not always pleased with each weekly layout.  But I am happy I am able to record the daily goings on in our life in this way.

Although some things I kind of wish I could forget.  Like this week’s naptime tantrums brought to you by The Big Girl Bed.

At one point this week, instead of napping, Kate removed her clothes down to her diaper (which hung on precariously), ripped a good portion of her clothes off the hangers in her closet, and tore all her books off the bookshelf.  When her hour was up, I went in to check on her and found her mostly naked except for this pair of fairy princess wings.

How can you do anything but laugh?

I flew solo this week since Dan was traveling, so Kate and I spent much of the time out of the house.  On Monday, we went to her first art and music combo class, and I watched as many of the other mothers proceeded to stamp the art for their child so their fish came out perfectly while my girlfriend and I let the kids stamp however they wanted, just as long as they didn’t stamp onto their tongues.  (Okay, confession, Kate did stick a Q-tip dipped in paint in her mouth before I could stop her.)

Costco, drug store beauty finds, manhandling the dog.  All in a week’s work.  Everyone’s still breathing, so that’s a successful week, no?

I’m always amazed at how much single mom-ing you have to do. I don’t know that I could handle having Ryan travel as much as Dan does!

Ugh, yes, it can totally stink. Between Kate and Belle, someone is always ripping something up or destroying something or making a mess or needing something ;) I’m always glad when Dan comes back home!

Sarah, I love this – and love that you’ve stuck with this project. Kate will treasure it one day. I wish I had a record of how my mother and I spent our days when I was a toddler!

Ha ha, I hope she treasures it and doesn’t think ill of me ;)

Only because I did not have to walk in on Miss Kate with the fairy wings and everything else on the floor is that situation hilarious. I like to think of your tales from the front lines as mental preparation for my someday tot.

It was pretty funny. And the best part was when I asked her about the mess she said “mama pick it up.” Ugh! What do I look like to these people in this house? A maid?!
