A week full of celebrations.

My childhood best girlfriend is getting married in October, so our friend Lauren, and I put together her bridal shower last weekend.  And by Lauren and me, I mean, I was her helper but Lauren was the true mastermind.

I like to be at parties, but I don’t have quite the same sense of pulling together all the party elements like our pal Lauren.  I kind of want to rent her out.

Maybe she can plan the bridal showers, and I can teach all the ladies BodyStep.

No?

Anyway, the shower was a success, and it was an honor to celebrate Marie.  We met in creative writing class in high school.  One of our first assignments was to write a spy novel.  I wonder if Marie remembers that.  I’ll make sure I bring this up on her wedding day.

I continued celebrating that week with my 28th birthday.  My parents surprised me with a gift certificate to get a manicure and pedicure, Dan bought me a Wacom tablet, and I treated myself to RPM training.

I should write something about turning 28 because unlike all my previous birthdays, I feel a profound sense of self and where I am and what I want.  After 28 years of wondering what’s next, it’s nice to feel I know what’s now.

Thank you again for a lovely shower, Sarah! It couldn’t have been more perfect. The food was amazing and I am so touched by all of the work that you put into planning it. I had the best time. Love the pictures, too!

I do remember the spy novel assignment! My favorite part was coming up with the characters; I got a little lost in the political intrigue part. Too bad I don’t have any papers left from that class. We came up with some pretty great writing!
