Are you afraid of lipstick? Do you want to try out one of those cutely-packaged tubes but are worried you’ll pick the wrong color and end up looking like a clown…or worse?

I love lipstick. And I’ll try almost anything. I’m like a moth to the flame when I happen upon a new display of shiny lipstick tubes.

But I get the fear. And I get not wanting to waste your money on something that looks wrong. And I get wanting an easy lipcolor.

I’ve found a solution! Almay Butter Kiss.

I usually walk right on by Almay. I think I own one Almay item. It’s just never a brand that seemed all that interesting to me. I saw the display of new lipsticks, and I thought, eh, could be interesting. But since I don’t own much from the brand, I didn’t know if they would be a hit or a terrible miss.

So when two of my favorite YouTube beauty gurus (EmilyNoel83 and MakeupTIA) both commented on loving these lipbutters, I thought, okay, they’ve never steered me wrong in theΒ  past, so I’ll try them.

I picked up three out of the four forΒ  my shade range (I went with light-medium skintone). Tried them the next day. Fell in love. And went back for the remaining shade.

Here’s what I love about these: if you’re unsure what looks good on you, no worries. These are separated out into skin tone, so simply pick one (or all!) from the berry, pink, red, and neutral color family that corresponds with your skin tone. Sure, you can pick a shade from the other skin tones, if there’s one that interests you. But, if you just want to be pretty sure it will look good on you, select from your skin tone, and you’re good to go.

These formula is easy to apply and glides on smooth. And it’s forgiving. I’ve applied these without a mirror. They don’t have the best staying power. But, if you’re looking for an effortless (and inexpensive) way to take your quick make up routine up a notch, go for these.

I’m not the fanciest when it comes to makeup. I like it to be fresh, natural, and, well, I guess B+ effort. These lipsticks from Almay fit the bill!

Have you tried these? What do you think?

What a fabulous idea to categorize by skin tone! I’ll have to check these out. Thanks, Sarah!
