This is a powerful and deeply vulnerable episode. Today’s guest, Shelley Hitz, gets vulnerable about personal struggles and shares an inspiring message that I still think about even though we recorded this show months ago.

For several years, Shelley, a married, Christian woman, struggled with pornography addiction. Through counseling and the work of God in my life, she realized she had never forgiven her grandma’s murderer. She had carried the weight of unforgiveness and bitterness for 20 years. In many ways, she believed her porn addiction was a way to cope with the pain. She also experienced sexual abuse, miscarriage/infertility, and many more difficult experiences that have brought pain into her life. And yet, her faith ha brought freedom and healing.

We also chat a lot about writing. Shelley is a prolific writer, and she shares her tips, strategies, and advice for getting more words on paper. She also shares about her new book, Broken Crayons Still Color, a book about how our deepest regrets and challenges can transform us.
