Project Life 2012 | Week 42

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-42.1

Kate and I were bachelorettes again last week.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-42.2

Lots of cereal and cheese and crackers and Pirate’s Booty eating on the couch while Kate watched Dino Dan and I read Tiny Beautiful Things.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-42.3

Kate’s newest thing is pretend play with her babies.  We put the babies in her high chair, dressed them up in her pajamas, and put them to night night.

She even suckered me into buying her her first Cabbage Patch doll she found at Costco.

Since it’s a long go alone with Dan’s out of town, I tried to work on as much self care as I could.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-42.6

I’m always wanting to get ahead as possible, but sometimes it’s good to do nothing.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-42.6

Especially since I taught five classes last week (and I’m teaching six this week), I worked to ask myself, have I taken some minutes to rest?

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-42.7

This week’s going to be a challenge, too, so I’m giving myself permission to take it easy.  Do you work to find areas of rest in your week?

Project Life 2012 | Week 41

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.1

I bought Kate a fushia tutu from Target last year as a last minute Halloween costume.  Rather than spending money on a costume she would wear once, I figured this tutu would become a dress up item for the rest of the year.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.2

Kate ended up wearing the tutu to my local mom’s group’s Halloween Party, and at the 11th hour, I got a hand-me-down butterfly costume for her to wear for the day of Halloween.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.3

This year I knew I couldn’t squeeze her back into last year’s hand-me-down costume.  And that tutu I bought last year has seen a lot of wear.  As evidenced in Kate insisting on riding her bike while wearing that tutu.  She even sleeps in that tutu.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.4

It was also getting a little snug.  So I promised her that when the brand new, sparkling Target opened down the street from us, we’d go get her another tutu.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.5

Well, that Target just opened last week.  And Kate and I spent a nice hour there, trolling the empty aisles and feasting on a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte (me) and a bag of popcorn (Kate) from the sweet food court.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.6

After wandering through the grocery section, make up, and office supplies, we ended up in the little girl’s clothes where Kate picked out a new tutu.

sarah bagley | sunny side up blog | project life week-41.7

She wore it right out of the store, and she’s worn it everyday since.  Kate spends a good portion of her days flouncing around her her tutu (or, as she calls it, “my princess dress”) while roaring because her favorite game is pretending she’s a “BABY T-REX!”

So I suppose this year’s Halloween theme is Princess T-Rex.

Project Life 2012 | Week 40

Isn’t it funny how just when you get the hang of things, you’re almost done?

sunny side up blog | sarah bagley | project life week 40.2

That’s how I feel about Project Life.  I kind of meandered my way through this project in the beginning, not really sure how I wanted each week to look.  If I wanted to make sure I captured a certain thing each week (like what we ate or a run down of things that happened that week) or if I just wanted to capture one or two stories.  Or if I wanted more or less photos.  Or more or less journaling.

sunny side up blog | sarah bagley | project life week 40.3

Now, at 40 weeks, I have a better idea of how I want the pages to look.  And I also know what I wished I had done.

sunny side up blog | sarah bagley | project life week 40.4

I also can’t believe I maintained this project for almost an entire year.  I thought for sure at some point I’d drop the ball.  Or sporadically post random layouts from random weeks.  But sitting down to put these weekly layouts together has become part of my routine.  And it’s a routine I enjoy.

sunny side up blog | sarah bagley | project life week 40.5

I’m bummed when I have weeks where I didn’t take many pictures (or many good pictures).  But that’s life, no?

sunny side up blog | sarah bagley | project life week 40.6

Yet putting these weekly pages together makes me think about my weeks in new ways.  I like flipping back through my phone and downloading the pictures off my camera and remembering, “oh yeah, that happened.”  It’s so easy to forget what goes on in our lives.

Are you going to take on a Project Life next year?  I’m definitely in.  And I think I’m going with Elise’s seafoam kit.

Project Life 2012 | Week 39

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.1

I love the concrete schedule school brings.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.2

Since I know Kate has school two mornings a week, I scheduled her gymnastics class and playgroup for two other mornings.  And I plan a playdate and errands for our remaining morning.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.3

This means we are scheduled up five mornings a week.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.4

As someone who loves routine and schedule and knowing what’s coming, these past few weeks have been the most productive and enjoyable weeks since I left the predictability of my cubicle job for moms world.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.5

One of my {mostly} stay-at-home-mom gripes is the helter skelter schedule.  But now that Kate is two, I know when she’ll want to eat, when she’ll nap, how long I can go on errands before the meltdown takes place.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.6

And now with school, our weeks are scheduled to the max, and we’re happier for it.  Loosy goosey just isn’t my style.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-39.7

Are you big into scheduled weeks?  I leave some wiggle room, but I’m happier with a full schedule.

Project Life 2012 | Week 38

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.1

Kate and I were bachelorettes this week.  Six days.  Five nights.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.2

Besides one midweek break down due to a certain bluetick coonhound’s endless barking at falling leaves and miniature dogs and a certain toddler’s insistance on trying on 18 different outfits and 4 pairs of shoes, crying for 15 sippy cups of various liquids, refuel to eat anything even after requesting upteen snacks and meals, and throwing herself on the ground when I suggested anything from reading books to couch cuddling.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.3

So.  There was that.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.4

But we persevered and made it to Kate’s first gymnastics class, which she loved.  This comes as no surprise considering her favorite thing is jumping from the couch to the trampoline to the floor where she performs a forward roll.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.5

When I wasn’t spotting Kate’s gynmastic feats, I thought about how I want to incorporate some different elements into my Project Life pages.  Since I’m loving how Elise incorporates stamps into her Project Life pages, I picked up four of her stamps from her stamp shop.  How many times can I say stamps?  Stamps, stamps, stamps!  Anyway, I love these.  They are perfect for Project Life, and really, any paper project.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.6

To go along with the stamps, I picked up some of those Sharpie pens in various fun colors.  I love Sharpie markers, but I can’t use them on everything because those things just bleed through just about everything.  But these pens?  They are the best.  No bleeding, write smoothly.  And like my friend, Sarah, says, once you go Sharpie, you don’t go back.  Preach.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week-38.7

This must have also been the week of New Obsessions because I also picked up some cute stuff at Old Navy (crazy about chambray, hearts, and polka dots), and I snagged Ben and Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt in every flavor available at my Harris Teeter.  So yum.  If you are a frozen-yogurt loving fool like your’s truly, then go pick this up.  It is the best I’ve ever tasted.

And that’s all she wrote for our week.  Fortunately for everyone at Casa Bagley, Dan’s home this week.  What’s new in your week?  Any new obsessions?

Project Life 2012 | Week 37

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.1

It was a big week at Casa Bagley.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.2

Since I knew it would be a busy week, I decided to kick things off with a visit to Frying Pan Farm park to ease into this full week.  We love Frying Pan Farm Park.  Kate and I can spend hours there, talking about all the animals.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.3

This one goat was totally full of himself.  He kept sticking his head between the fence and grabbing onto unsuspecting preschoolers.  This one little girl was wearing a Christmas dress with lots of taffeta, and that goat launched himself halfway through the bench and snatched the bottom of that girl’s dress.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.4

I had to pry that taffeta skirt out of that goat’s mouth before her dress became that goat’s lunch.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.5

Before we knew it, it was Thursday – first day of preschool day.  We talked up preschool all week, and since the teachers came to visit our house the week before, so Kate knew who she was looking for when that first day came.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.6

I’m happy to report, no tears were shed.

sarah bagley | sunnyside up blog | project life week 37.7

By me or Kate.

But the only information we got out of her about preschool was the daily snack.

That’s our girl!
