Around Here Lately // Hello 2019!
Goodbye , 2018! Hello, 2019! And hello to you! I hope you had a nice, long, and relaxing holiday. The kids and I had a two-week long break, and Dan took off for a good portion of those days. We spent our break hanging out with family, going to see the U.Va. basketball game (twice!), and getting A LOT of stuff down around the house. You know those nagging things on your to-do list that just never seem to get crossed off? We got to just about all those things, and it felt satisfying and a great way to end 2018 and roll into 2019.
This past weekend I also started my Career Switcher program to earn my Teaching Certificate to teach high school English! I got into the program at the end November, and in early December I received my reading list and some assignments, so I’ve been working through my book list and putting together my first assignments, but I didn’t go to my first class until this past Saturday. I just submitted two out of three of my assignments for this week (I will have three every week), and I’m pretty close to done with the third. As of this very moment, I am loving being a student again. I’ve always loved school, and I’m finding these classes challenging and fun.
Today we’re headed back to school! It’s been a fun break, but I think we’re all ready to go back to school. Here’s what else is going around here lately.
Reading The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah. I’ve already read The Nightingale, also by Kristen Hannah, which I loved, so I figured I would also like this book, and I do! It’s about a family living in Alaska, and the themes center around family, complicated love, self-reliance, etc… So far I love it.
Drinking Trader Joe’s Turmeric and Ginger tea. It’s my favorite, favorite tea, and I drink several cups a day.
Trying out Lara Casey’s Powersheets. I’ve never done the Powersheets before, but for some reason, this year they called to me. They just arrived, so I don’t have an opinion about them right now, so I will circle back once I’ve had a chance to check them out.
Watching Virginia basketball, Derry Girls (what a RIOT!), and The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel (incredible!).
Finishing up my list of intentions/goals for 2019. I’ll post these Wednesday.
Listening to the 80s channel on Spotify, one of my favorite channels!
That’s about it around here! Let me know if you are a Powersheets user, what you’re reading and watching, and what else is new with you!
